Vaser Liposuction | Cosmos Clinic Adelaide

What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser Liposuction is a new way to perform Liposuction. Using ultrasound technology, Vaser Liposuction liquefies the fat as it is removed, this makes fat removal easier and thus provides smoother results and minimal recovery time, as compared to traditional liposuction1 .

An advanced method of removing excess fat, Vaser Liposuction is also used to contour the body. It is the gentlest form of Liposuction, using an ultrasound probe inserted under the skin which separates the fatty tissue before it is removed.

Cosmos Clinic was the first in NSW to acquire the new Vaser 2.0, and has performed more than 5,000 liposuction procedures over the last 10 years.

What is the difference between Vaser Liposuction and Traditional Liposuction?

Traditional liposuction is less refined than Vaser Liposuction. Removing fat via traditional liposuction can be likened to trying to shatter a brick into pieces before removing it. With Vaser Liposuction, that brick is now transformed into a slab of butter and gently removed. This means less pain, and a much quicker recovery time for Vaser Liposuction patients than Traditional Liposuction Patients.

Another main feature of a Vaser Liposuction treatment is that the ultrasound technology also tightens the skin around the area which is being treated, this means better results and less saggy skin.

How will your Vaser Liposuction procedure be carried out?

You will be given some relaxation medication to take on the night before your Vaser Liposuction procedure, this is to ensure you have a good sleep and are not nervous about what will happen the next day. When you arrive at the Clinic for your procedure, you will be given some more relaxation medication.

When you are ready to go in for your procedure you will be given some twilight sedation, this eliminates the need for general anaesthetic. Small incisions will be made to allow a numbing solution to be injected throughout the areas to be treated. To minimize noticeable scars, incisions are made in discrete areas such as inside the belly button and underneath the bikini line.

After this, a small ultrasound probe is passed under the skin to dissolve the fatty layer before it is suctioned out. You will be awake throughout the process, this is so the surgeon can get you to stand up from time to time, if necessary, to see what the results will look like.

After the procedure you will be fitted into a support and compression garment, and let rest. You will then be assessed before you are discharged to go home, which will be on the same day as your procedure.

You will be required to come in for post-procedure massages, and check-ups, which are all complimentary.

Does the fat come back?

No. Liposuction removes fat cells. When you put on weight and go up a few pant sizes, this is your fat cells getting bigger. When you lose weight and size, your fat cells are getting smaller. Liposuction completely removes the fat cells. They won’t get bigger, they aren’t there anymore.
