PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, which is a great natural treatment for tightening your skin and improving your skins texture. PRP treatments injects your own plasma into the area to be treated, which stimulates production of collagen and thus improve the look of your skin. This process will make the treated areas look and feel firmer, tighter and makes your skin get back that youthful glow. PRP can also be used in the treatment of acne scarring, stretch mark removal and hair loss.

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma is plasma taken from your blood, this plasma has a high concentration of platelets. These platelets are a specialised cell in your body which is involved in injury healing and cell regeneration. The higher the concentration of these platelets, the better your skin will be rejuvenated. A normal amount of platelets in your blood is around 200,000 per micro litre, PRP usually has 6.8 times this amount. At Cosmos Clinic we use cutting edge technologies to yield more than 8 times the amount found naturally in blood.

How does the PRP Treatment work?

The PRP process is quick and simple, blood is taken from patients, in the same way a blood test is be carried out. This blood is then spun in our centrifuge machine, located in the clinic. This machine allows the blood to separate, the platelet rich plasma is then extracted and injected back into the areas that are to be treated.

Why are PRP treatments used at Cosmos Clinic?

The plasma we extract and re-inject into patients is rich in platelets, stem cells and growth factors. This stimulates the collagen production in your skin. Collagen improves skin texture and acne.

Does PRP have any side effects?

As the platelet rich plasma is from your own blood, there is no chance of rejection or adverse reactions. There may be some swelling or bruising from the injection, but this will only last for a few hours to two days, although can vary from patient to patient.
