Breast Implants | Cosmos Clinic Adelaide
Choosing to have Breast Implants is not only a very important decision, but also a very personal one.
At Cosmos Clinic we understand that this is a very important step in your life, and approach each and every aspect of your procedure with care and respect.
Type of Breast Implants
The two main types of implants used in Australia are either Silicone Gel Implants or Saline Implants.
At Cosmos Clinic, our doctors prefer to use Silicone Gel Breast Implants as they deliver the most natural look and feel. Silicone implants are also the safer option as Saline Implants have a greater risk of spontaneous rupture and deflation.
How big you would like your breasts to be, is one of the most important factors in your choice of implants. At Cosmos Clinic our surgeons will discuss a range of options with you, taking into consideration your height, weight, shape, as well as the size of your existing breasts. In most cases the implants will fall between 250 mls and 650 mls in size.
The two shapes of Breast Implants available are tear drop or round. At Cosmos Clinic, our doctors prefer using the round shaped implants, this is because if your implants were to rotate they will not alter the shape of your breasts. That being said, each person is different, and the shape you go with will depend upon the shape of your existing breast as well as other factors.
At Cosmos Clinic, our doctors perform Breast Implant surgeries using a Rapid Recovery Technique. This proven method of operating means that the recovery time for Breast Implant surgery is largely reduced. Through the use of specific types anaesthesia and surgical instruments, patients can be well enough to resume all low impact activities in as little as three days. This technique also means there is less time spent in pain after the surgery, with 90% of patients only requiring pain relief medication for up to two days.
The most common myths and misconceptions about Breast Implants are that they could cause breast cancer and that they could interfere with a woman’s ability to breastfeed.
There is no evidence to support either of these myths.
Due to the way the Breast Implants are positioned, they will have no effect on a woman’s ability to breastfeed. Women will need to inform the radiologist that they have implants when having a breast screen, this will cause no issue though, as radiologists are trained to detect cancer in all types of breasts, including those with implants.
The price of Breast Implant surgery will vary depending on each patients situation, at Cosmos the cost of Breast Implant Surgery starts from $7,990 this is inclusive of the implants, all follow-up appointments, theatre costs and anaesthetics costs.
Cosmos Clinic’s Breast Augmentation surgery is performed by Dr Ellis Choy, in Sydney, Canberra and Coffs Harbour. Please contact Cosmos Clinic for more details.
How long do they last?
Cosmos Clinic’s Breast Implants last up to 25 years, however they made need to be replaced earlier depending on each person’s aging processes and the associated sagging of the surrounding tissue of the breasts. Due to the implants, your breasts do tend to start sagging earlier than would otherwise occur. At this point , around 25 years after your first breast implant surgery, a breast lift and breast implant replacement may be required.
